Step 1: Check for Unwanted Programs

  1. Open Finder.
  2. Go to Applications and look for any programs you don’t remember installing.
  3. Drag any suspicious programs to the Trash and empty the trash.

Step 2: Remove Malicious Browser Extensions

For Safari:

  1. Open Safari and click Safari in the menu bar.
  2. Select Preferences > Extensions.
  3. Look for any unknown or suspicious extensions and click Uninstall.

For Google Chrome:

  1. Open Chrome and click the three vertical dots (menu) in the top right corner.
  2. Select More Tools > Extensions.
  3. Click Remove for any suspicious extensions.

For Mozilla Firefox:

  1. Open Firefox and click the three horizontal lines (menu).
  2. Go to Add-ons > Extensions.
  3. Remove any suspicious extensions.

Step 3: Clear Browser Data

  1. Safari:

    • Open Safari > Preferences > Privacy > Manage Website Data.
    • Click Remove All.
  2. Google Chrome:

    • Go to Settings > Privacy and Security > Clear Browsing Data.
    • Choose All Time and clear the data.
  3. Mozilla Firefox:

    • Go to Options > Privacy & Security > Clear History.

Step 4: Run a Malware Scan

  1. Use SpyHunter for Mac:
    • Download and install SpyHunter for Mac.
    • Run a full system scan to remove any adware or malware.
